Partial Architecture

Partial Architecture" was a performance showcase focusing on the relationship between movement and the urban landscape. The phrase was inspired Vito Acconci's understanding of architecture as an extension of the active body.
Contemporary dance works and improvisations explore how the how performance and the built environment mutually complement and define each other. The community garden site La Plaza Cultural, built with the help of 1970's land artist Gordon Matta-Clark out of reclaimed urban materials, calls attention to architecture as fundamentally unfinished and open, both to historical change and the aspirations of its ever-shifting inhabitants.

"Partial Architecture" @ La Plaza Cultural was part of the Loisaida United Neighborhood Gardens (LUNGS) Harvest Festival, with arts programming in all LES community gardens from October 5th to 7th.)
